is one goose too lonely?

I beg to differ, our Jack's an "only child" and he is absolutely loving it, he gets all the attention, bosses the chickens around, follows us everywhere, talks to us, runs up and down the garden with us and gets to come to the pub and sit and watch tv with us, lonley he ain't!!!!

What breed is Jack? And did you get him alone? I have only one now and it’s a two day old French Toulouse. We have chickens and ducks even baby ducks but he can care less about any of them.

Love reading everyone's experiences with having a goose or having geese.

I have two females I bought as goslings, and they are practically inseparable. If they are more than several feet away from each other for more than a few minutes, I hear them calling to figure out where the other is.

Maybe because they are each other's best friend, they have no interest in socializing with the ducks or chickens. They do, however, like to occasionally peck at the chickens and, for no real reason, "herd" the ducks to the other side of the yard.

Mine are American Buffs. They seem to enjoy being stroked on their breasts and they will allow me to pick them up and move them when necessary. I highly recommend goose ownership.

I've heard they need another goose friend, ducks and chickens won't be sufficient. They won't even sell a lone gosling where I live. It might be ok by itself, but it wouldn't be the happiest goose.

It's probably best to have at least 2 although one will bond to ducks if you have any.

I started with two but lost one to a fox when it was still young. The other one ran around with my 2 ducks and also got really attached to me and would follow me and want to be petted like a dog.

I got 4 more the next year as company for her. She no longer wants anything to do with me but I think she is much happier with her own kind.

I don't know if you meant you might want to to get into them to maybe grow them for people to eat but if you get just one, I think you may have a hard time selling it or giving it away. Unless you end up disliking it.
No I have had this Chinese goose since 2 days old. It is now 6 months . I live in an estate. When I am out it walks around with my dogs.
