I have these 2 chicks that until recently looked exactly the same...I noticed the comb on one is more prominent. Does this indicate anything at this point?POINT?
The first one is my roo suspect?

They look pretty young.... How old are they?

What breed are they supposed to be, and are they the same breed?

Post better pics. Pics from the side, while they are standing are very helpful. In addition, seeing comb and wattles is very helpful.

I was told Mottled Java...but could be a mix. They hatched May 29...I know it is early but just started noticing that combs were no longer the same. For awhile I could not tell them apart.

I will try for some better pics today. No waddled showing.

How old? They look pretty young, so I think you may need to wait until they are 6-8 weeks old. Try to get a full-on side pic, like this pic below. I put them in an old laundry basket on its side to contain them. These were straight run Leghorns, that turned into 3 females and 2 males. Leghorns develop fairly fast, and its not easy to see the difference yet at 4 weeks. It helps to see body structure and stance when taking pic from the side.

Good Luck.

So which of these ended up being roos? The 2 that are on the right (going by their heads not bodies)?

1-3 Are pictures of the chick I suspect is a roo....picture 4 is the other chick that until recently looked alike...now the combs have taken on a very different look between the 2.
