Is our chicken a rooster?

Our chicks are about 8 weeks old and we're getting the feeling this one is a rooster, not a hen. Anyone have an opinion? They are supposed to be black & red sex link hens.

The barred bird is a cockerel. Male chickens are cockerels/roosters, and females are pullets/hens. Both sexes are chickens.

At 8 weeks, the barred one is probably a cockerel. I don't know how black or red sex link cockerels are supposed to look, but there should have been an obvious difference between the boys and girls when they were babies.

Thanks for the feedback! We actually knew they were all chickens we just weren't sure if this one was a rooster or a hen. We are actually not supposed to have roosters where we live in town which makes us very sad because this one is our favorite!

That's what we thought too! However, he looked just like all the other little yellow chicks.

Naming him "Oh, Lordy!" instead of Lady might work in this situation.
