Black Wyandotte.

She's got bleached legs/feet, they were once yellow.

Oops, I forgot to reply to the bleached legs part. I was too caught up in the Black Wyan dotte part...

Her legs were always that silver/gray color with the slightly lighter yellow tone in the back. She may be getting old, but her legs have always looked like that.

No, the SOP for those breeds in the US and in Australia requires a single comb.

I can't recall any black breeds with rose combs. Perhaps she's some kind of "egger" with Wyandotte ancestry?

What do you mean by "egger"? Do you mean Easter Egger or just some kind of colored egger? (like, for instance, a breed that lays chocolate, or pink.) Also, I've began to notice some, if not a lot, of these hatcheries don't go by the SOP for some reason.

Easter Egger, Olive Egger, Starlight Green Egger, Prairie Bluebell Egger, ...

There's a lot of these hatchery designer hybrids around and they don't have standards so they're hard to tell apart.

Any of the egger types who are *supposed* to lay a colored egg has a certain percentage chance of laying brown, tan, or pink (light brown with plenty of bloom), instead.

Sorry for the late reply. I wasn't able to snatch any of them today due to unplanned events but here are some that I already have from the day we got them and after. They aren't close up but I can get better ones tomorrow. I do think she favors a wyandotte now that I look at them. But she may also be mixed. Pretty none the less

There is a "Black Sexlink" listed as part of their "Production Pack".

Black Star is one of many varieties of Black Sexlink -- each made by a different producer's breeding "recipe" and given a special name by the marketing department.

In the very early 1900's there was a rose comb Black Orpington developed and exhibited but I assume it would be exceedingly rare to get a throwback from them.

Rose comb is a dominant gene. If it's there it shows, and once it's gone from a line it stays gone. There's no way for it to hide and re-appear later as a throwback.
