Is Roo our dinner guest or does he deserve a chance?

We'll see how he does with her in a few weeks, once she's healed and re-introduced to the flock.

I would very much like to keep both Lucy and the roo!

Quote: This. There are way too many deserving cockerels to keep one so unpredictable. 90% of mine go to the freezer anyway, and NONE of them have personality problems nor hurt hens -- they were unlucky in that, they weren't in the top bracket with the SOP.

Quote: You need to be present and observe the reintroduction for the first few hours (and not leave her alone with him).

Hen is doing great, feathers growing back and all. We have her set up in her own area right next to the flock's coop/run, so they get to all but be with each other for a while. Roo is Big Daddy to the rest of the ladies and treats em well. I will be watching very closely to see how they interact. Thanks to everyone for their input, and I'll post the results once they meet again!
