He didn’t crow like he usually does at around 9 pm.

Not crowing at night shouldn't be a concern. If he isn't crowing by 5 or 6 AM would be a concern.
Were there flock changes that would affect his attitude?

We did lose nine hens a few days ago (we had fourteen). His three favorites (also silver laced Wyandottes) also died (coyote/ fox or coyotes/ foxes).
