Is Ruth a boy? **PICTURES AND UPDATE ON PAGE 2!**

Around four or five females would keep him happy. I have two drakes, and six hens. One of the drakes is still young and doesnt breed yet. But my older drake would be more then happy enough with two hens. But he is VERY happy will all the girls he has. I hope the two drkes dont fight over my hens

good luck!

3-4 females to one drake is usually enough to keep him happy, My goose and my lil frizzle bantam had problems when she went broody, I think it's just the temperment of the broody and it causes friction with the rest of the flock.

That doesn't mean it's a boy at all, I have a little mixed breed female thats head is green.

How green is it though? I strongly belive that her duck is a drake though. What are your ducks mixed with?

Based on these pictures, the head isn't necessarily dark enough to indicate that it's a drake... green all by itself isn't an indicator.

It's pretty dark and iridescent. Her head is much darker than her body. Though she is a mixed breed. Not even sure what the mix is of.

99% of the time only males have the Shiny Green head. As in your case yours is a mix breed so that explains everything.

OP: I don't finalize that males are males until I see the curly drake feather(s).

UPDATE: Ruth is definitely a boy! He has matured so much in the past month! More than I could ever have imagined! Here are some updated pics for you

I love how he tilts his head. We have a couple ducks that look like him at the lake. They're mostly buff-mallard crosses. One or two are Cayuga-mallard crosses.
