Is sand okay for chicks?

I am getting ready to put some sand in the hens run and was wondering if I can put it in the chicks run as well, they'll only be in there during the day until they're feathered out some.

I think its fine. I even use it while chicks are still in the brooder.

Awesome, I'm using pine bedding right now and ugh they are some stinky birds, I change it every day and I totally can't wait till they are feathered so they can get out of the brooder. not to mention I have a new batch of chicks due Wednesday the 21st.

They should be fine. It would be the same as a dirty run. Sand is great!
