Is sexing by wing feathers accurate?

ive watched several YouTube videos on how to determine the sex in newborn chicks from the wing feathers. It is only good up until about 4-5 days of age, and does not work for bantam or silkie breeds. It only works on the full size chicken breeds. Does anyone on here use this method of sexing, and how easy and accurate is it?

The chickens have to be bred for that trait. From memory you need a fast feathering breed rooster and slow feathering breed hen (could be the other way around though). By 6 weeks you should have an inkling about who is who by wattle and comb development, and people on the 'what breed or gender' forum are always happy to give their opinion.

Agreed, and don't drive yourself crazy trying! LOL I bought my first flock: 2 buff brahmas, 2 light, 1 dark and 1 BJG. I probably watched the same vids as you and convinced myself that I had 3 boys. Guess what... I was wrong. I ended up ordering 6 more chickens from Meyers and ended up with 12 pullets.

I have 17 birds ordered from Meyers coming in April. 15 females and 2 Roos. I am confident in their sexing abilities. I am just asking for future purposes if I decide to incubate eggs at home next year. If I do, Zi would like to know the sex ASAP and not have to wait 6 weeks

The only way to do that is to cross breed sex links, or breed an auto sexing breed.
