Definitely a rooster. Very handsome fellow, too. Not sure of the breed, though. We got this chicky about a month ago and wondering if hen or rooster?
Neck feathers are the most suspicious and fan out like an umbrella when it rears up.
Has a loudish call but we've only heard a couple of times.
Otherwise has no distinct mannerisms and is more shy than our hens.
If can't tell from photos, what is the best way for me to find out?
Thinking the breed is either leghorn, white Orpington, or most likely rhode island white?

Sounds about rightHatchery grade Rhode Island white. (SOP is for rose comb, but the hatcheries have single combs) I find it interesting that you say he is shy. Our RIW don't have a shy bone or feather in them.
I'm in Melbourne, Australia. Picked him up with another white and two reds from someone who didn't want them. Not sure on history before thatWhere did he come from? He's definitely not an Orp.
I'd say he's a mix then.I'm in Melbourne, Australia. Picked him up with another white and two reds from someone who didn't want them. Not sure on history before that
