I recently rescued, what I thought, a silkie rooster and an ancona hen (pullet). I have a feeling that the ancona might possibly be a rooster. Is it too early to tell?

If she turns out to be a he, how will this affect things? I have two light sussex whites, and one Isabrown. Can two roosters (bantem) live happily together with three bigger hens?

Do you know how old SHE is? I don't see any male feathers. A full body shot might be easier to tell, I can't see the tail area.

The comb and wattles are large for a youngster - which would say ROOSTER, but those feathers are confusing....

Perhaps someone else will be able to give a better answer.

Looks like a female to me, too. But I love that silkie....I have only grey ones; the offspring, mixed with cochins, don't look like silkies above their legs...darn! They're still cute fuzzy butts, though.

I have several Anconas and my guess is that it's a she. My Ancona pullet has very large wattles and comb...but all my roos have HUGE wattles and combs!
