Hey all!
And again, we got more chicks than I wanted because my husband is an idiot
Of the 12 we got, one of them has super short secondary feathers.
Hoping she's a late bloomer
She also doesn't have even a smidgen of a sign of a comb coming through. I have her side-by-side with 1 of the other silver babies in comparison. She's the bottom one

what breed? the wing pattern may not matter

Feather sexing only works for specific breeds that are bred for that trait. I think you're going to have to wait a while to know the gender.

Wyandottes get combs early so if it does show a comb don’t freak out, it doesn’t really mean it’s definitely male.

Why is he an idiot? Because you all got more chicks than YOU wanted? That's a little harsh. My husband only wanted 7 and we're at 20 now. There would be huge problems if he called me an idiot for that. (Or for anything)

Anyways, I would wait. Chicks grow at different rates and while it can indicate gender it doesnt always.
