Hey all,
One of my EE's has been regularly flying out of the run for the last week or so. She usually hangs around the same area and will follow me back into the coop when I notice that she is out. But today she flew out almost immediantly after I let her out of the coop. I followed her under the lean-to along our garage where I discovered she has made a little nest out of some hay and there are about 6 eggs in it. Is she collecting a clutch? She has not been really sittin on them, but it is a definit nest made of hay and she is the only one using it.
Should I try moving her and her eggs? Does any one have any pics or suggestions on what to use to keep her seperate from the rest of the flock?
Thanks
Keeping my fingers crossed that she will be hatching some chicks out for me!

Hi, it sounds like she has found a safer comfy place to go broody or sit''. or else is there some yummy grass out there?!?

depending on how many hens u have and space in your run and coop, i wouldnt move them unless necessary. would she be safe going to that spot for the whole duration??
this sounds like one of the stories i read about on one of the broody hens threads...
good luck have fun!!

Yeah I think she made a comfy spot to lay her eggs in. When they go broody they don't lay and stay only on the nest, even when there are no eggs in it. But it is possible.

The spot she chose is protected from the elements (there are walls on three sides) but definitly not protected from predators.
She did lay another egg in it today, so I was thinking I would just leave it be for a few days and if she does start to set move her to a safe place. I don't know?
A friend suggested that I add another egg or two and then maybe she would start to set soon.
