Show quality?? for my 9 year old to show in 4h he loves her and thats the most important thing but I have never owned any cochins so not sure what is "show" quality. She is still young not laying yet. She is really sweat althoug the bottom pic makes her look mean she is really nice.

Where we are, the judging for 4-H is different than open show. Talk to your leader and they should have more info for you. There are judgings on knowledge and handling as well. Good luck!

She looks sweet. If he is showing 4-h take her, I doubt that there will be large numbers of STD partridge cochins there. her leg feathering is pretty good, don't let her out in the mud. she lacks a good cushion It should be more rounded and fuller if it wasn't pouring rain here I would go take a pic for you. How old is she ? STD cochins don't finish maturing until about 18 months. last year my dd 6 took all the birds that she liked. she learned alot from the judges comments (me too:D ) and took grand champ with her silkie, (but to be honest there were only 10 banties) go have fun

What happyhens said is true. You could check into showing for what's called "showmanship" -- that's where they judge the owner more than the bird!

She is only about 7 months like I said she not laying yet and is definatly under a year. My other question is she standard or bantam??? Thanks for all your opinions. I will bring hr to show for my son's sake like I said he loves her win or lose.

She is STD size

I think just from looking at the others with her for size comparison. My STD cochins don't even start laying until abut 10-11 months, she could fill out more over time she is real young when is the show ?

No sorry, she doesnt appear to be show quality. I think her coloring looks good for a partridge but the tail is more like another standard hens tail. I believe the tail should be more rounded like this partridge hen:

I thought her tail was off it looks to me like a standard chicken tail not like a cochin tail. Well hopefully my black cochin I picked up today will have a fluffy bum. I won't tell my son we will bring her anyways under showmanship. Thanks to all of you this is my first year with cochins so I'm learning. Fair season wont be for another 6 weeks or so.
