My son gets so excited all winter he spends planning out who will do the fair rounds with us this year. I thought this hen might not be full cochin but he is set she is going so going she will be. She acts like his puppy not his chicken.

I've been wondering how 4-H works with chickens. My daughter has been doing 4-H with her horses and does very well, so she wanted to do it with the chickens but I was wondering if it wasn't more of a quality issue. Heck, in 4-H, is doesn't matter at all what your equine LOOKS like. Its all about how the youth handles their horse, their control over their animal, how their riding is, etc, etc..... But since you don't "handle" chickens in the same way, I figured it might have something to do with the quality of the bird.

Well were I go every child gets a ribbon for participating. There are many catigories to enter that quality isn't as important as the child caring for them In some categories quality does matter. My son has never won and still can't wait to show.
