Is she egg bound? What can I do for her?

I have a three year old Leghorn who has been experiencing symptoms of being egg bound (sitting in the nest box all day, swollen underside, moving slow when she is normally full of energy, tail down, no eggs in weeks when she normally lays daily, etc.) for the last two months. At first giving her calcium, a bath, and some raw egg seemed to do the trick. She would perk up and run around like normal. But over the last two weeks, nothing I do is helping. Her tail has become drooped again, I can barely get her to eat, I haven't seen her drink in some time (though I am not always home), and her back end is VERY swelled and feels very warm to the touch. It wasn't this swelled yesterday. I have noticed she stands in one place a lot, and when she moves she has very poor balance.

What can I do for her? I thought about trying to get her to a vet. But none of the vets offices near me will do much for her. Only one sees chickens, and even she knows very little about them.

I hate seeing her like this. She looks very miserable when I went out to close up the girls tonight.

I brought her into the house where it is warm (its 40 degrees outside here right now), and she hasn't moved from this position since I brought her in 10 minutes ago

These are the procedures and medication which my vet prescribed for my bird.

-keep her well hydrated add electrolytes, vitamins in her water..try to help her to drink..

-give her steam for 20-25 mins twice a day , if it doesn't work keep her bath with olive oil in it twice or thrice a day..if there is an egg bound , then she will try to lay that in an hour or so.

-try to insert 5ccto10cc liquid peraffin / peraffin oil. If it is not available then go for mild hot olive oil.

-give her calcium p
-for pain and inflammation my vet prescribed baby brufen half cc.

She is currently sleeping in a crate with shavings in my house, and I had to take off for work. So no pictures this morning. But I can get some as soon as I get home.

I gave her a bath last night, and that really perked her up. I don't know how much good it did otherwise, but she fell asleep in my lap while I blow dried her feathers. So it at least relaxed her.

i checked on her before I left this morning and she is still pooping. It is very small, but solid. She hasn't been eating much, which explains the size. At least I know that she is still able to poop and there isn't an egg or anything stopping up her vent.

I don't know if I have olive oil at the house, but I will certainly try that in her bath when I get home. I have read somewhere to try putting Vaseline around the vent area. Should I try that?

Hi I'm new and I have a chicken going through the same or similar symptoms that yours is going through and I wanted to find out if you discovered anything new? My chicken started with these symptoms about 2 days ago and I've checked her twice a day and I do not feel an egg I've given her stiz baths, massaged her abdomen, added calcium to her diet. No mites, and eating well. Yesterday I noticed her feathers had a little mess, but nothing since her sitz. Her BM is normal.

How did you get her to take the calcium? I have an egg bound gal here too. She is standing up with her eyes closed. I tried opening her beak but she won't have it.

When I got my girl to take it, I opened up a capsul and wrapped the powder in some cheese. She gobbled it right up.
