idk man, no clue
I have an almost 3 year old RIR with a reoccurring infection. Previously she had laid an egg internally and had an infection but after some antibiotics she recovered very well. Now it seems the infection has returned. she is disinterested in food, has a slow crop, has not pooped, but i can see that previously her poop was bright green. her abdomen is swollen and her crop is off color. Is it worth another round of antibiotics if i’m risking the infection coming back? I’m just worried she’s become so disinterested in food that she will not even eat or drink her antibiotics.

What is the infection?

Does she have ascites? If she does, there's not much you can do, unfortunately.

I don't know what to tell you, hopefully others will know more.

Do you have a vet you can go to - is that something you might consider? Unless you know what's actually wrong, it's hard to figure out what to do.

You could try the antibiotics and see if she recovers. If you have any pictures to share of her standing (showing how she stands right now while sick), and of her crop discoloration and abdomen, that might help.

@Wyorp Rock any ideas, or any idea who to tag?

Your thread from last month is linked below.

You can try giving her another round of antibiotics to see if she rallies again. Unfortunately, reproductive disorders are chronic. Some hens have good and bad patches for a while until they eventually decline and are unable to recover.

The crop not emptying is a symptom that is often seen in hens with reproductive problems. Often all you can do is treat symptoms as they arise, keep them comfortable and offer supportive care until you access they have had enough and kindly need to be put out of their misery.

Here's how I address crop symptoms.
