One of my 5 week old ducks, have started making a noise like a sneeze once in a while. Is this something I should be concerned about, or is it normal. The little duck seems fine and happy. No runny nose or eyes. I hope this is a stupid question and I am worrying over nothing. This is my first time raising ducks. I just love the little guys. I was concerned B/C I haven't noticed the other 2 making this noise. I say they are 5 weeks but it is possible they are 6 weeks. I am guessing they were a week old when I got them. Thanks for any help.

Make sure they have a deep enough water dish to clean out their nares when they drink? I had to get a bigger water dish for mine.

Just make sure they have water deep enough to cover their nares (nostrils)...it is about the time they start trying to quack and whisper too...the little wuacks sound like (pardon the term) little farts. And the boys can sound sneezy and hoarse chirpy.

I wouldn't worry unless the bird begins to act listless, fluffed up, etc.

Remember, ducks are not nearly as susceptible to diseases in the way that chx are and other fowl (respiratory disease included).

Chickens are sort of like petri dishes in that respect.

Also, some birds, like people, just behave differently. Some will sneeze, some will sneeze more than others--some won't hardly ever. Some always cough on food, others hardly ever.
