is the color "Eggshell" a misnomer?

egg shell is also a surface type. Flat-egg shell-satin-semi gloss-gloss-high gloss

But did you know there is a paint color called "Sun Porch" we found out there is while picking out paint for our sun porch. I handed them a paint chip in blue with the location, sun porch written on it. imagine my surprise when I opened a can of bright yellow paint...Sun Porch. I have wondered what Kitchen and Bathroom look like now!

The color eggshell ( 2 g's) is one of 49 shades of off-white recoghized by the APC ( American Paint Assoc. ). The finish egshell (one g ) is a measurement of luminosity. It reflects more than matte and less than semi-glosss.

You know how egg shells are either white or blue with a brown 'paint' on them to make browns, greens, olives. I'm thinking they probably mean the actual white egg itself not the coloring covering it. If you peel the membrane out of the inside of the egg that is the actual 'eggshell' color I think.
