Is the weather making me depressed?

Has the sun been out where you live? I get the "winter blues" really bad when we have days on end of sunless, cloudy, gloomy days. I hate winters like that! If the sun is out, try to get out in it for at least 10 - 15 minutes a day, or sit by a window and let it shine on you. Seriously, it makes a world of difference.

Hope you're feeling better soon, and

It could very well be making you feel depressed. I find in the winter I have to have the lights on more or I get seriously down, even though for the most part I dont mind the season.

Yes, I agree that sunshine helps a lot. I took my 2 girl goaties out for a walk today. It was up to 48 here today, with sunshine and I felt much better getting out of the house.

Somehow taking care of the critters: Dogs, goats, chickens, makes me feel better.

Also, don't watch the news, that makes anyone depressed.

Losing loved ones is hard. I have lost all my close relatives except for my brother. We talk each week, but he is about 12 hours away so don't get to see him too often. I miss my Mom and my sister. We were close. They were both heavy cigarette smokers. Sis died at 56, Mom at 70. I don't smoke.

Anyway, a grandchild always cheers me up too. Can't be blue when they are around.

Sunshine when it's possible; a lamp with the correct bulb when sun is not available...we all need sunlight/Vitamin D and our spirits fall when we don't have it. Today I sat outside in the open doorway of our barn in the sunlight in my shirt sleeves, (hmmmwonderful after a couple of weeks of subzeros), soaking up the sunshine while watching my hens in their indoor pens. They were enjoying the sunshine as much as I was, as well as one of our barn cats, stretched out on a pile of straw in the sun in the open doorway. Sun is wonderful medicine for us when not abused. Hope you are feeling much better soon. ~G

I tried to think of why I was sad today every time I cried and all I could think was...I miss my cat! Pj went to kitty heaven right after Christmas! I had 13 years with him and I really miss the old tomcat!

Loosing anyone or thing during the holidays is hard. Maybe DH is right?!?! Menopaus can be some nasty business. Especially in the beginning. Stick with the grandbaby! That's your best bet on happiness!

Are there ANY outside activities you can do on a DAILY basis, for at least one hour/day? Light and fresh air can do wonders to improve your outlook.

Don't hold back the tears--that will help too to get it out! I'll say some prayers for you, too!
