Is there a chance that we could have a "LIKE" button, so we can give

kudos to posts we like, because there are times where I want the poster to know that I really appreciate their comment even thou its not my post, or my problem, but maybe 6 months ago they posted it and I want to let them know that I was happy they posted that. This is a sample from Body building .com. They have it set up so you can ad to reputation of the poster. You can also leave a short message to the poster about why you like or dislike their post. Just my 2 c, and I will be honest and say that I dont know if this has already been asked for or addressed, because I didnt do a search for it. (sorry)

I am a moderator on a huge fish forum, and when we started a rep system there was a massive amount of members getting pissy about their rep

. And there was some rep abuse, which leads to warnings or removal of rep point privileges for that person. I can see people here getting very sensitive about rep, so it probably isn't the best idea. We dealt with it by making sure there isn't abuse of the system. Eventually, anyone who got pissy about their rep (they got negged for legit reasons, like really harmful information causing readers to downvote them hugely) warranted getting downvoted more just for the whining

so the complains stopped.

I would be thrilled with just a LIKE, to add to reputation. Maybe its just a personal thing to me, but If I have to post a reply that says,, I agree with you, or WTG, it just seems like I am being a busy body
attention seeker.

thanks for responding, I wouldnt want to add an extra burden to the administrators of this forum

yeah, i would agree with not wanting one.

i've been in several forums where it was introduced and quickly deactivated. at first, it's all well and good, everyone is liking this and liking that (dislike/neg rep buttons are asking for trouble).

however, people quickly notice that so and so is always getting likes, but i'm not! how dare they never "like" my comments!

my vote goes for keep it simple, and if you like someones comment, PM them and let them know. i've had people PM me, and it made me feel good to know i have helped someone, more than if they had just "liked" my post

I don't think a 'like' button would be very good here. Some people might get upset if people don't like their posts and everything will go up in turmoil.

I had thought about this, also. Nobody gets upset about the "Likes" on Facebook, why should they here? On Facebook I often agree with, enjoy, or are amused with something but I don't have any comment to make. That quite often occurs here, on the forum.

On another forum that I visit frequently they have a "thank you" button. There is no dis-like or "non-thanks" button.

I have found myself on several occassions on here automatically looking for the "thank you" button just out of habit from the other forum. I would really like this.
