Is there a chicken developing in one of these eggs????????

Yep definatly babies, there bobbing about like mad in the eggs

I am so excited, 21 days is such a long time to wait... can you tell im a little impatient

Ha! yes...its very exciting!!!! Do you think that its a bit risky or not very good to have 2 broody hens both sittingon eggs that will hatch around the same time??? do you think that if one momma's eggs hatch earlier that the other one will become crazy and try to like kidnap her babies?? or will she wait until her eggs hatch?

It really depends on the egg and the experience of the candler. If you are inexperienced, it is best to wait until 5-7 days. Or if the shell is exceptionally opaque. I can get a pretty good idea of fertility by the 3rd day but I will not start to toss until the 7th. On the 3rd day, you will start to see some slight reddening of the yolk but that is about it.

I suppose it depends on the chickens, would they fight over the babies ect... My chicken was broody and after a week another hen went broody and kept robbing the eggs from the other hen, so I confined the hen to another pen and placed her on some eggs of her own... only for her to eat 2 eggs after a week of setting, and deciding to not sit for days, so in the end I am glad I segrigated her because im sure harm would have came to the eggs she tried to steal, or even worse the chicks that hatched could have been harmed or killed, she still now tries and takes over the chick that hatched and it is 4 weeks old now, so glad I have them in a brooder pen as im sure the hens would fight... its your call, maybe seperate and give them both eggs but in different parts of the coop or different pens...

The thing is, my silkie went broody like a week ago and has been sitting on an empty nest. Then 3 days ago i gave her 4 eggs to sit on. my cochin went broody about a week before the silkie, but the silkie is so stubborn that whenever the cochin would come around she would puff up and make a whole bunch of noise and the cochin would leave her alone. The cochin is very layed back and isn't pushy at all, but she was as happy as a clam when i gave her 3 eggs of her own today. i"m just concerned that there will be conflict between the two if one mothers eggs hatch before the others. Especially if the silkie eggs hatch and the cochin who has 4 days to go abandons the soon-to-hatch chicks in the eggs that she is sitting on.

Im not sure if she would abandon her own eggs?? hope someone else can help you, if your worried can you seperate them completely into another brooder pen, so they are not near each other??

Hello again... These pics are from day 8!!! It was very clear to me to see what eggs had stuff in them vs which ones didn't have anything in them. I think i saw a toe or something! But, i'm still not sure 100% what i'm seeing. I think that in the pictures you will be able to see the.... air pocket? Take a look at the pics and tell me what you think.

**Also (its probably not good to do this) the eggs that I "think" have chicks in don't swish around when i shake them a little(not much or hard at all) Is that another sign of babies?????

I can't find the veins. would the type of egg effect the visibility of them?
