Is there a known genetic issue with porcelain Barbu D’uccles?

Hi, I have recently purchased a gorgeous group of porcelain Barbu D’uccles, which I understand comes from the lav (lavender gene).
The cockerel who came with this group has feather loss on the tops of his wings and can get sore. This issue only arises once they start their first proper moult at 1 year old. I have been told by the breeder that this is a genetic issue that can crop up in the cockerels of this colour and is why you see very few of them in poultry shows.
Has anyone had experience of this? And is there anything I can do to help him and prevent the issue cropping up in his offspring? Any advice or past experiences would be much appreciated.

This is caused by wing patch, a gene linked with the lavender gene and common in porcelain d’Uccles. @nicalandia knows more about this subject than I do.
