Is there a lice treatment that can be taken internaly?

I was wondering if there is a lice/mite treatment for birds that I can add to their water? I have a large aviary and have a couple of budgerigars who are rescue birds, so they wont come near me. I know they have mites but wont let me spray them.

There's only topical treatments. Try treating them at night after they go to roost.

I had to BluKote spray one of my hens when she was about a year old - everyone was pulling her feathers and even she was drawing blood. Could not catch her. So, did it while she was on the roost about an hour after dark. Very easy, they all knew we were there, but no one moved a muscle.

Bought some cheap night type head lights to wear so we could see the gals without a bright light.
