Is there a loophole where shooting hawks is legal?

Hi,
I live in Larimer county Colorado, and apparently shooting hawks is illegal here. I've never lost a chicken too a hawk but for some time now hawks have been killing my racing pigeons. I've been looking through county legislature and ordinances but mostly the laws are conflicting. I'm not expecting anyone to know the ordinances specific to my county, but are there any federal laws allowing the shooting of hawks that override city ordinances? Does anyone know about Colorado pest regulations? Racing pigeons are pretty valuable and are considered property. I'd be really grateful for any help at all.

Birds of prey have no resistance to canker. Falconers that use pigeons for training are very careful to insure the pigeons are clean. I've heard of pigeon keepers using infected culls as bait for a problem hawk.

Interesting idea, but that is very cruel. Sure, I dont like hawks catching my pigeons, but it is cruel to intentionally infect a hawk.

All birds of prey are federally protected. Even possession of their feathers is a crime.

Yeah...I kinda have a soft spot for all birds. It's a shame they're invasive. Did you know they make pretty cool pets?

These videos are amazing and who knew these “European Starlings” were so smart and talented! These starlings are slowly taking over my purple Martin houses and the corners of my front porch. Grrr! I like my little Martins!

Its not for everyone, but when they take over the blue bird houses I have put up, I do shoot them. I love starlings, and do hope to have a pet one someday, but I do love native species so I will remove invasive ones as long as I can.
