is there a set number of days that the hen waits after mating to lay that first egg??

saw one of my BSIB mate with a IB hen....first time to see this
and I have had peafowl for 3-4 years...

so....how long after mating will she lay that egg??

You know I asked this question a while ago...I had to look back because I forgot the answer...

Only one person answered me about this and said they thought it was two weeks after mating.
 
Three weeks before they lay the first egg.
 
Mine do it at 10-14 days and so far the first eggs of the season have been fertile! Also have hens laying that have *not* mated, lol.

My hens start walking differently and usually lay an egg within a week of that, sometimes it's less.

Several people here have good pictures of the egg stance, maybe they'll post them here?

Also if they are penned peahens they will pace the fence like crazy and sometimes they might cluck while they pace. Mine pace the fence so much during this time that they wear out a path along the fence.
