Hi,

I bought a SOP book in may and then I got some SQ birds and have decided that I want to show maybe breed silkies and they are bantams a while ago I heared somebody talking about a bantam SOP book and was wondering 2 things,

1, Is there a Bantam SOP?

2, if so is it really worth buying another SOP book if there is enough info I woulf like to buy BSOP but if it's not much different than the SOP then I don't think I need it?

Thanks,

Happy-Hens

The APA has their standard of perfection and the ABA has their own as well. They are similar for the most part but the ABA still has some different standards even for type of bantams. Also the ABA has many more colors recognized. I own a few APA SOP's and an ABA SOP and think that anyone really wanting to show should have both as well

The SOP or Standard of Perfection is published by the American Poultry Association. http://www.amerpoultryassn.com/

The
BSOP or Bantam Standard is published by the American Bantam Association http://bantamclub.com

Most would agree that you really only need the SOP. The SOP includes all large fowl, bantams, waterfowl, turkeys and guineas. The BS only includes Bantam breeds. However, there are a few varieties that are only in the Bantam Standard. Its really up to you. The Standards committees have worked together to iron out any differences.
