Is there a special trick to candling BR eggs????

I just can't see in them well enough to determine if there's veining or not. I don't want to throw out good ones, and I don't want to leave bad ones in...so that's where I'm at. STUCK!! My flashlight is real good, but the eggs are so dark brown. Any helpful tips would be appreciated.

Are you doing it in a dark room? How about holding an empty tp roll onto the end of the egg and shining the flashlight through the other end? We tried that on a medium brown speckled egg (black Australorp) last night and it worked great with a high-powered small flashlight.

Wait till dark. Use an LED flashlight OR a slide projector, which is what I use. I do BRs all the time and rarely have an issue unless I'm doing it too early.

I do it at night time in a pitch black room, but it's still so hard to see through. I'm gonna try the toilet paper trick, and see if that works better.
