Is there a sticky or reference on how to raise meat chickens?

I have layers, but am *thinking* of entering into the world of raising meat chickens.

However, I do not know if my heart can handle it, I've never met a critter I didnt fall in love with. Its a horrible character flaw, but thats the way God made me and so it is.

Anyway, Im wondering if there is a good synopsis of raising meat chickens for dummies and how it differs from raising layers. I want to know as much as I can before I commit to a decision.

Any reference articles or explanations for a novice would be appreciated
