Is he getting picked on by the other birds? There’s nothing you can do about thr lost ones, they’re going to have to regrow themselves. One of my chickens was like this, but grew her feathers back after she molted.

there is only one hen in there so i don't think he is getting picked on and when do they typically molt

Okay, then picking isn’t a problem. They molt in their own time. Usually the same time every year.
