is there a way to prevent coccidiosis

Hi there! Just wondering, what are the symptoms of coccidiosis, and how can i prevent them.

I had a friend who lost half his flock form coccidiosis. it was sad I wouldn't want that to happen to me. Any information would be helpful.

Chicks can be vaccinated for it. You could also feed medicated feed. Just don't feed medicated feed to vaccinated chicks.

Symptoms would be lethargy, bloody stools... but by the time you see the blood you might not have a lot of time to act. Having some Corid on hand to treat it isn't a bad idea.

Thank you. I will have to ask the people i got the chicks from to make sure they didn't vaccinated. if they didn't i will start on medicated feed.
