I'm new to raising chickens and I'm very worried one of them is a cockerel.
I got four chickens about two months ago and two more the following week. I bought all pullets, but I know sexing that young isn't 100% with most breeds. For a couple weeks I've thought one of the younger chickens might be a cockerel and it's been weighing on me since I can't keep roosters where I live.
I noticed they've been pretty aggressive towards the other chickens: rushing them, puffing out their chest and neck feathers, pecking them once or twice, over all being very dominate despite being younger and smaller. About two weeks ago they even started crowing, but I just keep hoping that they were one of the rare pullets that'll start crowing and being the leader in the absence of any roosters.
Recently that hope has been fading, they're about 9 weeks old, the crowing is pretty loud and smooth and their comb is redder than any of the other chickens. I wanted to get some more experienced opinions before I resign myself to having to find sweet little Morwen a new home. Is there any chance they're a pullet?
