Is there any way that you can sex egg(chick in egg) under broody hen at home?

Is there any fool proof way of knowing that? I know about one at 9 days old but I can't do that at home. Thanks

Hi! I wanted to see if I could find information on this subject. I know from personal experience that temperature can affect reptile eggs (male or female) but could not find anything like that on chicken eggs. What I did find was fascinating. A book. A book written in 1875 on this very subject. The title of the book is, "How to Tell the Sex of an Egg Before Incubation, and How to Tell the Sex of a Chick When Hatched". I found a PDF of the book (Link Below). And surprisingly, Amazon sells a reprint of the book in hard or soft cover (Link Below).

I have nothing to lose by trying it. Mrs. Fry says it is the air pocket and the placement of the air pocket that will tell you male or female. It was suppose to be pretty darn accurate. We'll see.
