is there any way to keep predators from noticing my chickens

I needed to know this information because chicken hawks keep flying over the barn and trying to eat my chickens so my chickens are locked up in the hen house most of the time but then at night coons and opossums eat holes into the cage but never actually eat the chickens

You must have chicken wire on their set-up?
(Raccoons can tear holes thru chicken wire)
Protect them instead with hardware cloth (tiny square holes, very sturdy)

I've read about putting pinwheels around the yard, and hanging cds from branches/bushes.

If you're home when this happens - go outside and swing a towel around like a lasso when they're circling the yard.
