My favorite moment of every day lately is when I go out at night to close up the hutch where my broody and 4 babies sleep (they have an electric pen they range in during the day, and they put themselves to bed in the hutch, but I close and lock the door overnight as double protection). Every single time the sight of 4 little heads poking out around mama's sheltering wings makes me go "awwwww, they're so sweeeet!"

It's not popcorn, although it does look like it.

It's mashed hard boiled egg. i think it's easier for the baby chicks to eat rather than the hard baby chick feed.

Maribou is a first time mom and i wasn't sure how she would do. But she sat religiously until i checked and pulled out the two eggs that weren't going to hatch. She could barely walk when she first stood up. i'll be glad when she is able to get up and move more in the next few days and stretch that poor leg out.

i'm very excited about this batch. It's hard to tell but they all came out showgirls.
