Is there anyway ( TSC ?)

Also depend on the manager....our TSC I know which manager to ask about what....one of them I am sure will allow me to buy just a chick or two, I asked one day if I could mix and match for the 6 minimum, he jokingly asked if he said no if I was gonna buy 6 of each, I told him my hubby would kill me, he then told me sure he would let me mix them to reach my 6. I even went back later in the day and just grabbed 2, because hubby wanted me to get 6 of the cornish x's (I had only gotten 4 and then 2 of the other breed I wanted)....the other no way in heck will she.

So doesn't hurt to ask, I f they say no...check craigslist for chicks, our craigslist had a bunch listed over the weekend....AND I found a great breeder by going that route.

I bought my 3 chicks at Orscheln's but I'm in Lincoln Nebraska and they will sell just a couple. But our city allows us to have 2 chickens without getting a permit so I would guess that's why they don't have a limit on it. I'm very curious now though to see if our TSC's have the limit too. That and I love looking at chicks I might have to drop by and check them out.

DixieChick - all but 8 of my bunch came from 2 places on craigslist 1 breeder and 1 umm yeah petting zoo, mini farm, has some they breed but also orders them.. but both those places are over an hr form my house

DixieChick - I am in La Crosse with that brand new TSC, the one that is always sold out of chicks, so the ones I bought came from henderson.

Oh if you don't know it is about 30-40 minutes w. of Emporia

This reminds me of my misspent youth trying to persuade older kids to buy me beer.

SO glad I'm not the only one whose mind went straight there, as well. Hehehe.

I bought my chicks at TSC, convinced them to sell me 4 instead of 6. Mainly because I explained to the girl my coop plans our for 4 birds not 6. But now that I've lost 2, should have bought 6...hmmm......

It seemed to just be a discussion between the cashiers whether they would sell me 4 or 6. I think the fact that I was actually talking about a coop and new my breeds and what was going on let them know that I was not just a casual shopper who just buys chicks for bratty kids who want "cute pets."

Not sure how your TSC works. Point of my drawn out story is, I'm sure if you explain your situation they will work with you.

I'd call them while the twins are napping (and, hopefully, the 3YO as well!) and explain exactly what you've told us. This way, you don't have to pack the kids up for a trip that might be fruitless. If they say yes, have them make some sort of note that "x chick is on hold as a replacement for (your name)" and go when the babies wake. And if they say no, ask for the manager. If he/she says no, you can probably find another source at this time of the year with a quick browse of Craigslist.

Debid that is a great idea but I have to go to the store anyways for horse food. I yhink I am going to wait till 4 though since it is raining that way my kids can help feed and water the horses
