Ohhhhh, a HOOOAAAA. Bummer
That's the worst. No HOA was one of the first things we specified with the realtor when we started searching for this property.

It should be an interesting venture if nothing else!! :0)Ohhhhh, a HOOOAAAA. Bummer!
Seriously...would be hard to stealth chickens, they are noisy buggers...the hens can be just as loud as the roosters, just usually not as early in the morning.
Hind sight is always 20/20. Would have done things differently if I had known. That's the worst. No HOA was one of the first things we specified with the realtor when we started searching for this property.
Guess you gotta weigh the consequences if getting busted against the desire to have chickens...and decide from there.
Weeeeeell, years ago when they made the covenants in our neighborhood they added no chickens. However, they were never filed with the county, so essentially they are not valid and legally no one can do anything to force me to get rid of them. The rub comes in to play where most people do not know the covenants are not valid (only a small handful know, as my husband discovered it when he became president of the HOA a couple of years ago). If I raise a stink and make it known there is no legal standing to enforce the covenants they will have no legal action available to enforce the HOA dues payments which go for the upkeep of our roads, etc. So essentially, I need to keep them quiet for the general well being of the neighborhood.
That is a good point. :0)Sooner or later this is bound to get out, every one will stop paying & the neighborhood will suffer. The President needs to rewrite the covenants minus the chicken clause & file it. The neighborhood will be saved & you can get your chickens.
...and I would get chickens before tht happens to make sure you are grandfathered in.
