Is this a Australorp? And gender if possible

I got 12 shipped eggs, 8 were meant to be Marans, and 4 were meant to be Australorps. There were 12 dark brown eggs, and 4 cream eggs. None of the cream eggs hatched so I thought all 7 chicks I ended up with were Marans.
However, one of the chicks looks like an Australorp?

I'm rather puzzled how it came from a dark egg.... and half wondered if it could be a cross?
Also, any idea on sex? I'm thinking most likely cockerel.

I would have to agree cockerel and it does look like an Australorp. Could be a mix I suppose.

The chick has pink toes and slightly feathered legs so I would think marans. Marans chick's often show some white when young. My marans girls had large combs very young so don't give up too soon.

I see no traits indicating an Australorp. Australorps have incredibly dark eyes unlike yours and yours has feathers on its legs indicating it's a Marans. It also appears to be a pullet

So would it be a black Marans? Its certainly not a Cuckoo, which is what it was meant to be.

Looks austra to me. Their eggs can be really dark.

She very well may be black copper. It takes pullets longer for the copper to grow in. Black is a possibility as well

Time will tell, I guess.
Its been a most surprising hatch, as I was expecting them all to be the same, and got three different colours.

I'm not so familiar with Marans as with Australorps, but IIRC the Black Copper variety doesn't necessarily show it's copper until several months old. I don't see any reason to think that young gentleman isn't a Marans at this point.

Golden Cuckoo.
One thing I forgot to mention, and that you can't really see in the photos, is that its got a bit of white on the wings.
Do Marans or Australorps have white there?
