Is this a baby possum?

So tonight I solved my possum problem! New question is this, my dog caught the possum, had it in his mouth but did not break the skin or puncture it in any way. He put it down when I told him to and then it just played dead until he was actually dead. But is my dog going to get any diseases from the possum? I’m thinking I should take him to his vet tomorrow just to be safe. Or am I being over protective and he will be fine?
