Is this a black sex link male

Yes, the same chick in each of the images, I hope you guys are right about it being a BR hen. Although the white ring on the neck is not onmine is that part of the breed?

Plus BRs will end up with yellow legs and Marans white legs

Yep, forgot that too. I love both breeds, they are beautiful, hearty and friendly birds. Both of those breeds have always laid very well too.
I have been considering getting more of them.

Usually you can tell the girls from the boys in BRs at day one... females have smale crisp defined white spot to no white spot, and a dark shading up their legs that they may keep a little of as adults... Males have a larger more blurred white spot on the head and none to very little shading on legs and will have no shading on legs as adults. Females feather in darker with more black and less white and males will feather in more white than black.

the simple life: you should send a cuckoo girly my way then I'll have a real rainbow of eggs...hehe

Looking at the pics in the link mine does seems to have more of the BR characteristics. The legs on the known BRs though look much stronger than on my bird, is that because of the age?

If they said they didn't have any sex-links, then I wouldn't think yours is one. Looks like a BR to me. Here is a BR chick I had at about 2wks old:
