I’m was candling eggs I received to set in incubator. This one looks way different than the others almost like it was sitting longer? Anyway is this a blood ring or is there still hope for this egg? Sorry for picture quality my kids lost my good flashlight so I am waiting for amazon to send me a better one.

How old is this chick and what type of bird is it? As of now, it does look like a blood ring to me but I also cannot see veins although that might be due to the slightly blurry photo. If you see veins tho ur all good.

It’s a duck egg that was sent to me in the mail. The eggs are supposed to be no more than a few days old but I’m wondering if this one was a little older. I’ll try to get a better pic

This is very interesting. It doesn’t necessarily look like a blood ring, but it doesn’t look normal. If nothing else, try the float test. And candle again in a couple days and compare it to other eggs.

It floats but it has a huge air cell like the size of it being two weeks into it incubation period. I wonder if it’s just an old fertilized egg

That egg looks gone to me. I had a couple of those, they were all dead. Looks like the blood vessels and everything has started dissolving, hence the streaking and the splotches. It's not a "blood ring" per se because the egg is farther along than when you would normally see a ring shape. You get the classic ring shape when there's less material, so it can all settle into a ring. This egg has a lot more development in it, so it's not forming an obvious ring, but the vascular structure is disintegrating and looks like splotches of blood rather than a vein system.

There's still hope if those are just very blurry photos and I'm not seeing the veins well... It's hard to tell with blurry photos... but if you can't see clear veins, that's not a good sign.

Yeah I think I was sent an old egg. I’m going to take it out tomorrow and toss it. All the other eggs look nothing like that one I think it was mistaken for a freshly laid egg by the sender.
