So my friend has 2 chicks and he's noticed one has been extra poopy lately and cleaning it pretty regularly. He took a picture and I noticed an extra hole below the cloaca. I think it's a bot fly hole and need advice on how to properly clean it if the bot fly larvae is even still inside.

The chick is only 2 days old and he had some hatchery hatch them for him. He's in Iran I believe if that helps narrow anything down.

Yeah that could be. Ok I'll let him know.
It would be pretty likely to still see it at 2 days old. With my first chicks, I got them at like 4 or 5 days old, and one still had the umbilical stump left. Scared me to death. 🤭 I simply didn't know what I was looking at. My next group was maybe 3 days old, and 3 of 4 still had them. I hope that's all it is and your friend's chick turns out great!

I think it is. His camera isn't great and I had to zoom in some to see it. 😅 Thank goodness.

He was worried about the poopy butt and I think it's just getting used to the food.😁
The other one isn't having any problems at all and they're both energetic.

Yeah the poopy butt can definitely be common at first. I think it can be more so if they're under a heat lamp instead of a brooder plate.

I have a silkie that had a pasty butt for a few days, but it outgrew it and has been fine since.
