Is this a brahma chick?

I purchased this chick as a Brahma, but as it matures I am beginning to question if it is even from that family!
It is 5/6 weeks old.







While we are guessing, is this a roo or a hen?

I think it's a dark brahma, or a dark brahma mix. Maybe even a really really low quality light brahma? That's a lot of black for a light brahma though.

I have looked at a lot of chick photos and haven't seen one that looks like this. As a chick it sorta looked like a bantam.

I just don't know what it is.

Thanks! When I looked at other photos of birds this age, well they just don't look like my bird.

That's neat! I didn't know that happened with light brahmas. Mine both feathered in black and white where they were supposed to be:

You can see them there in the back. That's why I thought dark brahmas, which are more black. But my two are hatchery quality, so maybe that's why.

Mine are hatchery birds too. I just thought the feather pattern was so strange for a Brahma. All the ones I have seen look like yours Pyxix.

might not be but that's what my lakenvelders do and they are the same color pattern
