Oh and its actually really called buff columbian brahma,
buff brahma would be the same as buff cohin, but with a pea comb,
the black feathering on the neck adds the columbian to the colour.

There is something about crossing the gold gene (buff) with the silver gene (light) that I can't remember. I know people have done it with wyandottes. If you can't find it in a search- ask about crossing them in the genetics forum.

i am thinking of hatching many of his eggs this spring. it would be some interesting crosses....

if i cross him with an EE would the chick if hen, lay green eggs or brown?

but i would cross him with a rir, barred rock, BO, EE, australorp, and banty (a mix that looks like a wellsummer with black/green legs)

if you cross ur buff brahma roster onto your light brahma hen all poullets will be buff like the roaster and all the cockerals will be light like the mom and if you were showing them you would not keep any of the cockerals from that mating . but would keep your poullets and breed them back to a buff brahma roaster and would get better buff brahmas for that if you used show qaulity stock but you are not so you will just keep the poullets and raise a nice bunch of backyard birds have fun hope it helps you

The daughters will all be gold columbian and the sons will be silver columbian (but carrying gold) with reddish in the hackle and in the wing bows. Large Buff Brahmas are rather rare - why not get a pure Buff female (or 2) and produce a flock of pure Buffs?
