This...chicken?...was brought to a friend's vet office today after a cat brought it up to the house. They own neither cats nor chickens. Any ideas on what it is??

Sort of looks like a polish chick

Yes, that's a chick.... possibly a Polish, depending on a few factors.

Does it have feathered legs? If so, it may well be a Sultan instead of a Polish.
