Is this a cockerel? Please I need to know soon, in order to enter our local county fair.

i have this 11 week old bird that was supposed to be an americauna. (can't hardly find any americaunas ) Of course he/she wasn't a purebred, I figure it is some sort of cross, but I can't tell if it is a roo. It looks to have a rooster tail, acts more aggressive with the other cockerels, and is more bird dominant. Watching him you would think it was a roo, but he doesn't crow. Should I just say it's a hen? Of course right as I went to get him for pics I watched another bird run up and grab the longest tail feather it had.

So here are some pictures. I know this is opposite but I hope he's a roo.

Although I have this feeling. Remember that he is now missing a long tail feather that really made him look like a roo.

Okay thanks. I am usually pretty decent about sexing birds but that fact that he doesn't crow throws me. All my other cockerels his age crow.

In my understanding of all the books I have, Auracanas are the true blue/green egg layers. They were crossed with American breeds to get the Ameraucana which is why Ameraucanas have tails and should have a beard. Auracanas have ear tufts and no tail. I don't see the difference between an Ameraucana and the Easter Egger unless the EE doesn't have the beard...? Your bird doesn't look like it has a beard and is not an accepted color for Ameraucanas, so depending on how stringent the director is will depend on if you can take it. At my county fair, they are not so stringent, but it wouldn't place. As for the sex of the bird, those tail feathers are pointed but it could be a pullet with some male hormones. My chicks are 11 weeks old today and the one cockerel has a much bigger comb.
