Is this a common condition?

How is she doing?
If you have a faverolle chick, I would put her with little one. All my BR's are the dominant hens, some are pretty feisty with the submissive ones. If someone gets a "timeout", it's always a BR. Faverolles are the most mild mannered, easy going hens I have had.
It may have been because mine was a hatchery Faverolle, but mine was fairly dominant and went after my fairly timid Jersey Giant, which led to the head RIR scuffling with her. Eventually rehomed the Faverolle as she kept trying to start fights with the other birds.

Wow, how funny! Mine are hatchery too, and definitely at the bottom of the pecking order - guess it depends on the indivdual chicken! I can't imagine one of my faverolles picking a fight but I would love to see that!

So my daughter works for TSC. She found this baby chick in a shipment. She has searched for any signs she has eyes and can't find any. Is this a common condition for chicks to be born with no eyes and what's her chance at a life with a flock?View attachment 1740865 View attachment 1740868 View attachment 1740869
I’m not an expert or anything but I hatched a eyeless Pekin duck and she learned how to eat and drink on her own in about a week or two! I showed her the water/food and she searches the ground with her beak or waddles slowly! She turned two months yesterday! When she was younger I had to separate her because the others wouldn’t huddle with her and they would run her over so when she got a little older I got her a friend and the friend is 3 weeks today and they absolutely adore each other! Also, when I tap on the water container she knows the general direction it is and she knows it’s full. It absolutely is a honor to see her grow into her feathers! Best of luck with your little one!!!❤️

Did your once in a while spin in a circle? I am planning to put my baby BR in with her for company. My daughter is working with her by tapping the food and water containers.

When she was younger she would always spin in circles!!! I was afraid she was getting dizzy so I would comfort her and kind of show her around. She usually spun in circles when she didn’t know where she was or she was uncomfortable with just the openness and nothing to show her around, as she got older she stopped spinning because she was more confident in knowing how to get around without hitting stuff! I see her use her bill as a walking cane thing. Now I let her roam in the grass with her friend so she doesn’t have to worry about hitting stuff!! Also, I had her in a little tub thing and I had seen this thread or info. on the internet where you could walk or show her the ends of the shelter you are putting the chick in and she/he could walk the sides til she/he finds the food and water. Does the chick have good, bad, or fine balance? I had to hold my duck, when eating and drinking, so she wouldn’t fall in and bonk her head is the bowl! Sorry this was so long!
