Is this a Dark Cornish?????

I looked barnvelders up and you are right my single comb one could be one of those or at least a cross. I haven't had any darker brown eggs though, but could be hard to tell since all of my hens lay brown eggs.

A couple of mine would go broody but they were so heavy, eggs would get crushed. It likely would have helped if there was more cushioning for the eggs, and if I'd separated them out. I had two hens trying to sit the same nest.

Supposedly the breed does make good mothers.

The one I have sitting is pretty light so I hope she won't crush eggs. I do need to put more straw under her though. Time will tell if she will be a good mom or not.
