Is this a dumb question?

So I have some jumbo coturnix quail and I just hatched a whole slew of Goldens. My intentions is to get eggs but I'm keeping some Roos to incubate my own quail. Then I started thinking, wait, are these birds related? Will the next batch not be able to mate together? New hens can't be added to the old covey because their daddy is the roo?

I know dog breeding has to be careful with the closeness of bloodlines. Is this the same with birds???

It's several generations before you see inbreeding problems. Many of the selective breeders are breeding daughters to the father roos when breeding for specific traits. You can trade some roosters later on or order some more hatching eggs if you're worried about it.

See when I raised quail I only had four hatch so I got very attached. When the grew up I kept them all together and gave the a great cage with high in protein food and fresh water. Also I bought a guinea pig house and I turned it upside down and put a roof on it. This allowed for a nesting box with a tall enough entrance so the eggs wouldn't fall out. But they wouldn't lay. Eventually I separated the four and paired them up because I thought that the two males might be the problem
