This is how the chickens stay so sparkly clean. All birds dust bathe in some form or another. They kick up dirt into their feathers and then shake it out. Your chickens look very happy!

Yep - I call it the "dead chicken" yoga pose. They are so relaxed after they are done...and they look like they are dead!

I love to watch my girls take their dust baths. Plenty of dirt around here since we've had no rain.

Mine have certain spots in the yard where they love to dig holes. In addition to their regular places that are completely sandy.

We have a litter pan full of sand in their run (which is dirt and waiting for sand) and they do use that, but it's not as "great" as being in the backyard. They especially like it when it's damp- we have finally gotten a bit of rain, and there is nothing they love more than the damp, cool dirt. Even if they get muddy, they ♥ it!
